Sade Demery – Bridge to Tomorrow Update
I hope you’re all enjoying the rest of the summer, as it’s coming to a close. As you all know, I am an Alumna of Morgan State University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Telecommunications, with a concentration in Public Relations.
I was afforded the opportunity to work for The Student Conservation Association (SCA) this summer in their Washington, DC office as a Program Assistant. In this position, I conducted many administrative tasks and supported the staff at the office. I had the opportunity to attend a one-day workshop on Climate Change with the Department of Interior. I also accompanied the Regional Development Officer to a site visit at Ft. Washington National Park. Flip Hagood invited me and a few SCA interns to attend a hearing on Capitol Hill about the Public Land Service Act. Dale Penny (CEO) gave his testimony in reference to the H.R. 587. This experience was great and I enjoyed every minute of it! My tenure as a Program Assistant has come to a close but I was given the opportunity to extend my stay for another 30 days as a temporary Office Manager! This summer has been great and I wouldn’t dare trade this experience in for anything!
Future Plans
I have been asked to serve on the Task Force for APPL! I am looking forward to attending APPL’s “2012 Conventon” in LasVegas, March 4-8!! I will be joining Toast Master’s Inc. this fall. I decided to wait till next spring to complete a Certificate program in Natural Resource Management. I can’t wait to share more updates with you soon!
